ACCS National Conference

26th-27th March, 2025

Adult Education Ireland was delighted to be in attendance yet again at this year’s ACCS Nation Convention, held in The Slieve Russell Hotel in Cavan. Over the first 2 days of this convention, Adult Education Ireland held a stand in the main exhibition area, providing information about adult education provision to the principals and delegats from boards of management from all of the community and comprehensive schools from around Ireland.

During the 2nd day of the convention, our chairperson, Ellen Hallinan, spoke to the gathered delegates about the importance and advantages of adult education provision in all of our scholls, highlighting the support that Adult Education Ireland can provide to schools and directors.

On the third morning, Ellen Hallinan and Rebecca Milner were delighted to meet the new Minister for Education, Helen McEntee and discuss the work of Adult Education Ireland, as well as the work of our adult education programmes in schools nationwide.

ASTI Annual Convention

Wednesday April 23rd, 2025.

Adult Education Ireland were delighted to be invited as guests to attend the ASTI Annual Convention 2025, held in the INEC, Killarney, on Wednesday, April 23rd. We were represented at this event by the Chairperson of Adult Education Ireland 2024/25, Ellen Hallinan.

There we heard an inspiring discussion from the keynote speaker, Prof. Áine Hyland concerning the proposed new Leaving Certificate reforms, and the proposed assessment procedures within. We also heard very interesting speeches from both Donal Cremin (Asti President 2024/25) and the Minister for Education, Helen McEntee. We were also delighted to attend the Convention Banquet, held that evening. While there, we highlighted the role of our adult education programmes in schools around the country, and petitioned for ASTI delegates for backing in looking for further supports from the Department of Education in our provision of adult education programmes.
