Genealogy and Family History Courses, various locations
Irish genealogy had, in the past, a reputation for being a frustrating and often fruitless exercise. That, thankfully, is no longer the case, and a wide range of publicly-available online and offline records and resources – many of them free – is enabling more and more people to trace their Irish ancestors.

If you have any interest in finding out where you came from, who your ancestors were and what life might have been a few generations ago, but don’t know where to start, consider joining your local family history or genealogy night class.
During a typical course you’ll learn how to research your family history and build up a family tree using a variety of sources and methods, including census returns; birth, deaths and marriage registers; wills; parish records and a range of other sources from Ireland and the UK.
You can also expect to build up a picture of local and social history as you trace your ancestors and broaden your understanding of your past and origins.
