About NACED
NACED, is the National Association of Community Education Directors, who organize and run Adult Education Programmes in their Schools around Ireland.
During and following the establishment of Community and Comprehensive Schools in the late 1960s and early 70s, Adult Education was seen as an integral part of these new Schools, where the provision of Second Chance, and Continuing Education was nurtured by the emerging Boards of Managements. NACED was formally inaugurated in 1974. It has traditionally supported Directors and their Assistants nationally and encouraged the expansion of the role of the Adult Education Director. Read more about the History of NACED.
Today NACED has a Membership of more than 30, including both Community and Comprehensive schools. NACED is structured by its Constitution and is guided by ACCS (Association of Community and Comprehensive Schools) and The Department of Education and Skills. It is funded through member schools, ACCS and Solas (The Further Education and Training Authority).

If you are a school running classes for adults, and would be interested in joining the NACED network, please contact Fintan Kemple (Chairperson) for further details. NACED committee members can also offer a range of support and advice to Community and Comprehensive schools looking to establish an Adult Education programme.
