Metalwork, welding and metalcraft courses for adults
Our metalwork, metalcraft and welding courses have become very popular, as individuals of all ages learn how to use metals and other materials to create and build a range of items, and pick up the skills and knowledge to create even more ambitious projects in the future.
During a typical 10-week Metalwork or Metalcraft course participants will learn a variety of skills as the work through a project of their own choice or ones prescribed by the tutor. Among the items that could be produced are practical household items like bookstands, candle stick holders and wine racks or ornamental items like model aeroplanes and working model steam engines. Other relevant engineering skills and concepts will also be introduced.
Participants can expect to learn decorative metalwork skills like scrolling and how to use light bench tools and equipment as well as lathes, drills and milling equipment. Some courses may also introduce participants to blacksmithing. All classes are suitable for complete beginners, though mixed abilities are usually well catered for.
