QQI Level 5 Business Administration (5M2468)
The purpose of the level 5 QQI award in Business Administration is to enable participants to acquire the skills, knowledge, and competence required for an administrative role in a range of business contexts and/or to progress to further and or higher education and training. By the end of the course learners will be able to demonstrate a broad range of specialised business administration knowledge and specialised and practical skills. They will be able to evaluate and use information to plan, develop and determine solutions to varied problems in a variety of business administration contexts.
Participants also develop their interpersonal communication skills with both groups and individuals, to work effectively in teams and to develop time management and problem-solving skills so that they may work efficiently in their chosen vocational area. As with all QQI courses at this level, the learner to take responsibility for their own learning in a constructive setting.
Participants complete eight modules in total over the course of two years part time study, including the compulsory module in Business Administration Skills (5N1610); at last one of Accounting Manual and Computerised (5N1348) and Bookkeeping Manual and Computerised (5N1354); a soft skills module; a word processing or text production module; a period of work placement or practice, plus 3 other modules from a broad range of options, including payroll, taxation, languages, economics, law, statistics, and insurance.
QQI Level 5 Business Studies (5M2102)
The level 5 QQI award in Business Studies is designed to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and competence to work independently and under supervision in a variety of business contexts, and/or prepare them for further and higher education and training in the business.
By the end of the course, learners will be able to demonstrate an in-dept knowledge of the purpose and operation of business organisations, and an understanding of a range of practice and theories relevant to a variety of business applications and contexts. Over the course of the eight modules, participants will pick up a broad range of tools and business skills which they can then apply appropriately in a variety of business situations.
During two years part-time study, learners complete eight modules including two models from Accounting Manual and Computerised (5N1348); Applied Economics (5N1350); Marketing Practice (5N1400) and Business Administration Skills (5N1610); a soft-skills module; a period of work placement or work practice; and at least 4 other modules from a broad range of options including payroll, bookkeeping, languages, law, statistics, international trade, IT skills and insurance.
Modules for either of these awards can also be taken as stand-along minor awards, with the Accounting Manual and Computerised (5N1348); Bookkeeping Manual and Computerised (5N1354); and Payroll Manual and Computerised (5N1546) all particularly popular stand-alone awards for administrators and office workers who need to upskill in those particular areas.
